FARM TOTS

June 11-Oct. 30
Wednesdays, Thursdays & Fridays, 10:30-11:30 a.m.
$6/child (age 5 and under); adult free with paid child

Kids everywhere are looking forward to the return of our popular Farm Tots program! And no wonder. Each Farm Tots adventure includes a  wagon ride, art or nature activity, and a chance to pick a child-sized portion of one of our seasonal U-pick crops. Every week is a new theme--bugs, flowers, seeds, worms, bees, herbs, etc. You'll want to come again and again!

Class meets rain or shine and costs just $6 per child per class. Open to children ages 5 and under with a parent or guardian. No reservations necessary. Check in at the farm stand at 10:15 a.m.

Be sure to ask about our Frequent Farmer punch card. Good for 6 visits for one child, it costs just $33 (a savings of $3). And it saves you time, too. Just have the teacher punch your card--no need to wait in line to pay. Plus, receive a coupon good for 10 percent off one purchase of fruit or vegetables in the farm stand. Buy your Frequent Farmer punch card at the farm stand.

For more information, call Cindi at 425-753-0756 or print out this flier.

Farm Tots learn about soil as they dig in the worm bin.

FARM FEATURED ON THE SEATTLE CHANNEL

If you're buying more local, organically grown produce, you're not alone. A TV crew from the Seattle Channel was at the farm last fall to tape a story on the growing interest in local, organic food. They interviewed Farmer Roger Calhoon and took shots of Farm Tots families picking flowers and tomatoes.

The report, a segment of the popular CityStream program, can be viewed on the web at: http://www.seattlechannel.org/videos/video.asp?ID=3070725

Brian Scheehser named executive chef of Trellis

We're excited to report that our favorite chef, Brian Scheehser, is now working his culinary wonders at Trellis Restaurant at the new Heathman Hotel in Kirkland.

For the past 13 years, Scheehser has been executive chef at the Hunt Club Restaurant at the Sorrento Hotel in Seattle.

Scheehser grows much of the produce he serves right here at The South 47 Farm. He rents a three-acre plot at the farm where he raises tomatoes, winter squash, beets, lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, leeks, and more. He also buys and serves produce from our farmstand.
